No cream, dairy, yogurt, sugar or syrups,” said Fith Fithian, owner of Smooth. Fithian has worked in the food and beverage industry for many years, formerly as a bartender.But seven years ago, he transitioned to a wellness focus when he opened the doors to Smooth.“It was more along my lines of getting people healthy instead of getting people inebriated. People come in and they do their shots in the morning, but it’s health shots and not alcoholic shots,” he said.Everything is made fresh and on the spot, something Fithian says is important to folks who live and work on Hilton Head.“The people on the island, they’re so, they’re active. They’re nutritionally, always looking into nutrition. You’ve got the tennis players. You have the golfers. All the bikers, so it’s a very healthy, athletic environment” Fithian said.And he says the support from those islanders is what keeps his doors open year-round, seven days a week.“One of the reasons why I absolutely love this island, it’s so local strong. We got to support our locals. We do get a lot of tourists in the summertime, but in the off-season, it’s all about local. Local pride and the love of Hilton Head Island,” he said.
